Swag for a Great Cause
Posted by urk at 6/23/2011 11:03 AM PDT

Proper etiquette dictates that you come bearing gifts for our 20th Anniversary celebration. You did bring a gift, didn't you?

Don't worry. It's not too late. Through the Bungie Foundation you still have time to step up and get us something really great.

Every program you'll read about below is for charity. All profits will be donated directly to charity and be used to fund our "iPads for Kids" Children's Hospital program. So, even though you might be picking up something nice as a special gift for our birthday - or something nice for your mom (who totally deserves it) - you should feel great knowing that your dollars will be used to bring a smile to a child's face.

Bungie Foundation Charity Auction

We've always been proud to take part in Child's Play's charity auctions. After seeing the great work they do year in and year out, we were inspired to create our own charitable organization, the Bungie Foundation, aimed at bringing smiles to the faces of children. As part of our 20th Anniversary Celebration, we're doubly proud to partner once again with Child's Play - this time to auction off some of our most cherished, one-of-a-kind items in the name of charity. From hand-drawn illustrations of the Master Chief to UNSC Marine body armor and a Battle Rifle crafted by the artisans Weta Workshop and used in Neill Blomkamp's Landfall, we're parting with some of our favorite things in the hopes that they will all bring joy to a child in need (and of course look great hanging on your wall).

These offerings represent a small sampling of the items we'll be auctioning off for charity. Click the images to see all of our current offerings and stop back often - we'll be deploying new artwork as Bungie Day approaches.

Bag O' Swag

What's in the Bag? Nobody knows! Well, okay we totally know, but we're not telling. All we can say is that for thirty-five bucks, you're going to get your monies worth no matter the contents contained therein. Some of you will get a Bag O' Swag worth so much more. Like a bag of Zunes or a lock of Luke Smith's silken hair.*

Due to the limited nature of the contents, there are only 500 Bags O' Swag available. Once they're gone, they're gone.

*Seriously, there's no hair. We checked into it and it turns out mailing human hair requires special permits. Instead, a good number off Bag's O' Swag are going out loaded with studio merchandise worth way more than the asking price.

Bungie Store Commemorative Swag

Wait, you want more? You got it! We're packing the Bungie Store with 20th Anniversary Commemorative swag, from t-shirts to custom crafted poster packs from our very own in-house artists and some very special guests.

Scroll down to get eyes on a tiny sampling of the goods, or simply visit the 20th Anniversary landing of the Bungie Store to sample the wares.

Posters are limited and signed by the artists.

The Bungie Store will also be updated periodically throughout our 20th Anniversary celebration, culminating on Bungie Day. Oh, and all of our 20th Anniversary swag totally ships internationally. Happy shopping!

Bungie All Stars – Week Uno

Posted by urk at 1/10/2011 11:13 AM PST

My God, it’s full of stars!

If you’re reading this, then I am already dead. Wait, that’s not right. Let’s start again.

If you’re reading this then you are invited to participate in the inaugural week if ill-advised community content competitions that we’re officially dubbing, "Bungie All Stars.” Each week’s competition will task you with using Halo: Reach’s suite of sweet in-game features, like Screenshots and Saved Films, or with using your own natural talent to create something that makes us wet ourselves with laughter, shed tears of joy, or gasp in terror at the mere sight of your foul and unholy exhibitions.

The rules are loosely constructed (and may not even be adhered to), the judging will be completely arbitrary (and wholly subjective), and the prize will be totally intangible: the seldom seen “Star” nameplate for use in Halo: Reach. As far as I know, there’s only one player in the world who already has access to it, and he works for us.

Last, but Not Least

If you want to be the second player to join the ranks of the Bungie All Stars, this week’s task is simple:

  1. Using any medium you can digitize and send via email, whip up some fan art of what you think Auntie Dot would look like, if she could take on holographic form, ala Cortana or Benjamin Franklin.
  2. You have from this very second until Thursday, January 13th at 11:59pm PT to submit your entry for consideration (and public ridicule) to contest@bungie.com.
  3. Use the subject line “Bungie All Star Week 1” without the quotation marks to help me keep nice and organized.
  4. The size limit is 10MB and you should use your best judgment and discretion in terms of the nature of the content you choose to submit. After all, our mothers visit this site (yours too!).
  5. One submission per person. Please include your Bungie.net profile and gamertag in your email.

If you’re not classically trained in the traditional arts, don’t freak out. I’ll be on the lookout for everything from masterful Photoshop submissions to hilarious MS Paint portrayals. Almost anything goes, as long as we can display it on the web (oh yeah, we'll probably display your submission on the web). You can even whip something up in Forge if that’s your preferred canvas. Again, if you can email the image to me, it’s fair game.

So, there you have it. Fame, fortune, and fan art are all up for grabs this week. Many will enter, few will win, but one thing is absolutely certain:

This is the way the world ends.

Welcome to the Bungie Store!

Get Some Action Figures

Posted by urk at 9/16/2009 9:37 AM PDT

For a great cause.

HBO pointed out a community member selling off his action figure collection to help pay for his son's medical bills.  If you're already in the market for some Halo action figures, or you just want to lend a helping hand, you can do so after the jump.  But, please only click through if you're seriously interested, we don't want to crash the site.
