Subject: FAQ on Bungie.net Member Titles

also, what do you suppose is the distinction between the various titles (heroic to legendary, and so on)?To me, it seems that Legendary members get ranked based on when they joined (i.e. before 06/01/2004). It also could be popularity also...we can't really be sure though.

I really don't think the system is as cryptic as people are making it out to be. Length of time and maybe some sort of penalty system for blacklists, that's all it seems to be.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

I don't think that would be Achronos' style. He likes to make things confusing to normal peons.

I swear AGDTinman was a theme master...but apparently I'm wrong =( I know he does a lot of work in that general area so I think I just assumed he was a themer...

Contractor art dude if memory serves. Came on about the same time Zoe was finishing up... again, if my memory isn't failing. Which it does.
Oh god, Recon has Alzheimer's.

I agree. The 'popularity' thing was just speculation.

What if Recon goes completely senile, and bans every mythic member, just for the hell of it? *Hint* *Hint*

I have to agree with weggie here, it seems that basically you are given a title depending on join date and then demoted based on blacklists.

Although I guess now the system is 'live', with the spam button etc., that there'll also be a positive reinforcement factor to speed up progression..?

Holy hell, I never knew that Lorraine had a B.net login. Why didn't I know that and spam it constantly with annoying PMs?

Man, I guess I don't know everything aboot B.net.

Good idea making a list, I might get fewer PMs about my title now.

No kiddin. I sacrificed my sig to solve the problem, and so far so good.

Nice list BTW.

A Bungie employee/contractor (known as Mr. Hand) spent a few weeks (during the lull after H3 went gold if I recall), playing games over the webcams. Usually guessing games that consisted of visual or scrawled hints put in front of the webcams.

Hilarity and frivolity ensued.

Those who won games were given a title.

wow, talk about lots of bang for your buck. by checking out some webpages and solving puzzles some guys were able to get labels that will cause envy among forum readers for ages. my goodness, could you imagine the uproar if you labeled the webcam winners 'Recon Recipient'?

exactly, and i do not know why anyone at all has a problem with any of this stuff. so what if some people have recon while others do not? and how is anyone harmed by some people having a label under their name in the bnet forums?

that so many people get so riled up about not having some nifty things that others have is further proof the the level of maturity of too many people in the forums. when i noticed that some people have labels under their names, it never occurred to me that anyone would have reason to be upset. the same was the case when i learned about recon armor. then i visited the h3 forum and was shocked by the loads and loads of threads dedicated to moaning about us not having recon while some are lucky enough to get it.

Because some people feel that if they have a uber nifty name under their ID, it will fill the empty vacuum of lonliness that permeates every fiber of their being.

I can't even imagine the number of PMs you get Recon, considering the fact that you have "recon" in your name, and you have orange text.

Your recollection of the time period is correct Recon. It was after the game shipped to be pressed but before the game went public. It was on Mondays typically during the day and you just had to decipher 3 clues and find commonality between them. Typically they were movies (as mine was There's Something About Mary). If you got the correct answer, you got a shiny new title a couple days later. What is funny is it wasn't until the update for titles that I started receiving the constant messages about my title. I guess most people just didn't look over there all that much until then.

I'm still curious as to what my title would be if I didn't have my custom one. I'm still hoping that I get to be a Heroic/Legendary Webcam MVP.
