You almost never recieve warnings. My friend got blacklisted for posting on a spam topic, and no warning before-hand. Some moderators give warnings, some don't.But still, either you receive a warning or a blacklist.

My title dropped a couple weeks ago (and went back up sometime in the last couple of days), but I have never received a warning, a ban, a stern talking to, or anything else that would indicate a forum foul on my part.
I knew that actually getting a warning could lower your title, what I thought was new info was the part about not being warned for replying to spam, while still losing status due to posting in spam threads. Is that info wrong? Yes. You will not lose a title simply for posting, regardless if it's a spam thread or not. The only ways to lose one's title, is for you to receive a warning, a blacklist, if your criteria isn't up to par with everyone else, or if your trust rating isn't as high as everyone else in that title category.
Basically, this is what seems to have happened to you: Posted by: Achronos
...your title is determined by what your score is in relation to the person with the highest score for that day. So... if the maximum score goes up further than you go up in the same time period (even if you didn't do anything wrong like get a warning or ban), you can easily lose your title.
