is there currently a glitch with the member status?
I was a Heroic member a few days ago but now I'm a member. I wasn't blacklisted or anything as far as I know, at least I never got anything.... probably another bug, like when it upgraded everyone to Heroic.

Nopers. You see, trust rating has many factors going into it. So, it's not just bannings, warnings, etc.

Look! It's Permit2Kill!

You probably posted in a spam topic. You don't get warnings with those. Your title just drops.

Um...no.

You receive warnings. That's one way of losing your title.

Seriously, check this out.

You almost never recieve warnings. My friend got blacklisted for posting on a spam topic, and no warning before-hand. Some moderators give warnings, some don't.

Now me be confusenated.

My title dropped a couple weeks ago (and went back up sometime in the last couple of days), but I have never received a warning, a ban, a stern talking to, or anything else that would indicate a forum foul on my part.

I knew that actually getting a warning could lower your title, what I thought was new info was the part about not being warned for replying to spam, while still losing status due to posting in spam threads. Is that info wrong?

If I'm not mistaken Duardo has spent lots of time on this subject. I'd be inclined to believe him, but any good documentary evidence would be decisive.

But still, either you receive a warning or a blacklist.

Yes. You will not lose a title simply for posting, regardless if it's a spam thread or not. The only ways to lose one's title, is for you to receive a warning, a blacklist, if your criteria isn't up to par with everyone else, or if your trust rating isn't as high as everyone else in that title category.

Basically, this is what seems to have happened to you: Posted by: Achronos
...your title is determined by what your score is in relation to the person with the highest score for that day. So... if the maximum score goes up further than you go up in the same time period (even if you didn't do anything wrong like get a warning or ban), you can easily lose your title.

Once again, Duardo brings the pertinent facts. Didn't know that everything was calculated on a daily basis. I thought it was cumulative over your whole history. I am no longer confusenated. Thanks.

I missed that post by Achronos. Where was it? ( I have a feeling it'll be somewhere obvious that I managed to miss in my searches)

edit: somewhere obvious....like the first page of this thread. I'm so dumb sometimes. I blame the crack.

They have a large barge with a radio antenna on it, where they charge up and discharge.

I guess I'm not clear on what constitutes a "warning".

I've never had one (and will hopefully continue such a pattern), but will the moderators make it clear when a warning is administered? Is it something they generally hand out through a PM?

Yes. You will receive a PM from the Soul, and his message will say a moderator has either warned you, or blacklisted you.

I was in lunch in 3rd grade. One girl had a Ding-Dong

O_O

Eldude95's Theory on how trust is earned:
So I was thinking that since Arachnos can't look through each and every single post, I had a theory on how you earn Definite Trust. It's added up daily so it might be something along these lines:

As we all know you earn trust for being active and stuff. It's added to your account daily. The amount of gain is called "Daily Trust Gain" or DTG it is added (or subtracted) to every users accounts once a day. If your trust goes up or down enough, you'll rank up or down.

We know you definitely EARN trust by:

Making post
Logging on.

So then, some who make lots of large, intelligent post seem to "Title Up" faster. So you earn likely trust points from posting off of the following guidelines:

Size (usually shows a good, intelligent post)
Number of daily post (duh)
Replies to post

The system will look into these stats daily and compare your gain to your loss. You lose DTG based off the following:

Number of reports your post received
Number of reports other people's posts received (like replying to spam)
Any bans or warnings earned
Number of reports you've filed (assuming you've put in a helluva lot of spam reports)

Now then let's look at Bob. Assuming he logged on B-net his DTG may look like:

[quote]Earnings:
+60 Trust for lot's of good post
+10 for logging on
Losings:
-50 since many people in a spam post he replied in were reported.
Total DTG +10 total trust, now let's assume he's 5 trust away from Heroic, well Bob enjoy the new title.

Hope you've enjoyed my theory, if you have any edit suggestions or questions PM me. What do you guys think ?

____________(˜˜˜||˜˜˜˜||˜˜˜˜˜)_∏______
l | --------____.`=====.-.~:________\___|================[oo]
|_|||___/___/_/~```|_|_|_|``(o)----------<)

Now keep in mind I haven't read through all the pages of this thread but my few thoughts are, judging by the topics not being on the first post, either nobody has thought of it / posted it or made valid reasoning for it.

Gaining Positive "Trust Modifiers".

First off I think that maybe a huge part of this system is somewhat derived from dedication to BNet. That may not make total sense but in the following I will try to explain...

Updates In General

I for one am a major fan of updates, they let you know what's up and give you insight in the lives of some of our favourite people (Creeper I know). I can't help but wonder if there is some sort of connection to trust modifiers in this. Being that a dedicated fan, is a trusted fan.

Logged-on Time

Logged-on time with factors being present, I think that an individual can gain Trust Modifiers simply with Logged-on time taking in to account that the said person hasn't received warnings/bans etc. So say for being online for X amount of minutes taking in to effect that you received no negative modifiers you can receive Y amount of points increasing your Trust Modifier.

Site Extras

Site extras like Projects , My Stats, Bungie Online etc. Simply viewing these could add to your rating, not everyday but at least once in your BNet life time.

These are my assumptions only and are only being added to try and help people understand the Trust System.

This is all I have for now as I'm am tired and heavily distracted by MTV's Punked.

A wise choice. I know it was tough to make such a trying decision before soliciting counsel from an internet forum, but rest assured you have the support and advice of the Flood.

BSG recruit

I just got demoted from legendary to heroic, dont know why seeing as I havent posted on the forums in about 2-3 weeks. All my posts and topics are relevant to the topic and the forums (not spam), Im always polite and helpful, and I don't get angry. But I guess Bungie doesnt trust me.... saaaaaaad face :(

I took pride in my legendary title because of how often I come on, and I guess I got demoted because I havent been on as much over the past month because of finals and schoolwork.

Im going to stay really active from now on and see if I get my title back.

BSG recruit

I think I might have an idea on how the trust meter is calculated daily. As you can see from my previous post, I had just been demoted from legendary to heroic status after not being very active on the forums for 2-3 weeks. Well I came on and started making posts and ansering questions on the halo 3 forums, I visited the halo 3 files forums and rated a couple maps after trying them out too.

Well check it out, my legendary status is back. I think that there is a certain level of minimum involvement you must have in the forums to keep your rank, if you fall below that level, you lose your rank. I was able to get my legendary ranking back after just one day of posting in the forums and and reading other topics.
