How do I link my Gamertag to Bungie.net?

Did you use the same email address on Bungie.net as you use to sign in to Xbox.com to see your Gamertag? If you did your Gamertag will show up within the next 24 hours. If not, it would be best to create a new Bungie.net account with the same email as your Gamertag (or you can change your Gamertag email to match your Bungie.net email).

If you recently changed your Gamertag, but your Bungie.net Service Record is still showing games from your old and busted Gamertag, you just need to make sure you've signed in, played some Halo 3 matchmaking, and given the stat processing a little bit of time to make the adjustment.

How do I change my Bungie.net username?

You cannot change your Bungie.net username, your username is permanently linked to your email address, but you can create a new Bungie.net account with a new email address and a new Bungie.net username.

That means if you've changed the Windows Live ID (email address and password) associated with your Xbox Live Gamertag, you'll need to create a brand spanking new Bungie.net account. Currently, there is no way to securely migrate your old Bungie.net account to your new Windows Live ID. You still be able to sign-in with your old Bungie.net account using your old Windows Live ID, however only your new account will be linked with your Gamertag.

If you've neglected to sign in to Bungie.net for a significant time period (was it something we said?) and you're being asked to create a new account, please note that accounts that remain inactive for more than one year are purged from our database. You'll have to gather your Windows Live ID information and reregister.

Why am I banned from Halo 3 matchmaking?

There are two types of Bans. If you are banned from all Xbox live games you need to contact Xbox live at 800-4my-xbox or at http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/contact/. If you are banned from Halo 3 matchmaking only please continue reading.

Bans from matchmaking cannot be appealed

Most bans are temporary (7-14 days), and these bans only stop those affected from playing Halo 3 matchmaking (custom games, campaign, etc. can all still be played).

We are banning for repeated bandwidth manipulation events - dropped connections, standby, ip flooding, among other things. The important point here is that these things do NOT normally occur, especially over long periods of time. And while they can occur without the user intending for it to happen, it still sucks for all players they play with. Remember, we're not banning based on intent - we ban based on cold logic: literally, a query against a specific set of criteria.

Why was I blacklisted from the Bungie.net forums?

Blacklistings from the Bungie.net forums cannot be appealed

Most blacklistings are temporary (3-7 days), and only prevent you from posting to the Bungie.net forums (private messaging and group forums are not affected)

The Code of Conduct and Terms of Use apply to all areas of the site. Additional forum specific rules can be found in the pinned topics section of each forum.

I earned the Katana/Security armor permutations and wore them, but now they're locked. How do I get them back?

Play more. We've identified an issue with the way that the Security and Katana armor permutations are registered. We're investigating a fix, but for now the only sure fire way to regain your lost permutations is to retrigger them by unlocking additional achievements.

How do I set my "Trophy Shot"?

1)      Login to Bungie.net

2)      Go to your Halo 3 Service Record page

3)      Select Hi-Res Screenshots

4)      Find an image and click Save to My Gallery

5)      Click the Gallery tab at the top of this page

6)      Click the Set as Trophy Shot box

How do I set the Seventh Column Logo behind my name in Halo 3 Matchmaking?

1)      Login to Bungie.net

2)      Click your Avatar

3)      Click the Edit Profile link

4)      Click the Profile Information tab

5)      Click show on the Customize Halo option at the bottom of the page

6)      Click Save Changes

Why can’t I play user-created content?

This is most likely due to the privacy settings on your Xbox 360. From the Xbox, select "Edit Profile", then "Privacy Settings" and then for "Member Content" select "Everyone."

In Halo 3, why am I getting the message "One or more players do not have the maps to play"?

Have you downloaded the necessary map packs for this play list? If so try loading each map in a custom game. If all the maps do not load try clearing your cache. If they are still not loading delete the map packs, then clear your cache, and then re-download the map packs.

How do I clear the cache on my Xbox 360?

To clear the cache on your Xbox 360 access your Xbox 360 HDD via the Dashboard’s System Blade. Access the "memory" area and highlight the hard drive. Press Y, X, X, LB, RB, X, X and a message should appear: "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?"

I’m having issues with map/campaign mission X not loading "player failed to load content".

Check your disk for scratches. If you disk is not scratched try clearing your cache.

I’m having issues connecting to Xbox Live (lag, dropped connections, NAT issues etc.)

You need to contact Xbox Live regarding network issues. Xbox Live support can be reached at http://www.xbox.com/en- US/support/contact/ or by phone at 1-800-4MY-XBOX

I’m having Issues with my Xbox Live account/Gamertag (forgotten passwords, stolen accounts etc.)

Bungie does have access to your Xbox Live account. You will need to contact Xbox Live support regarding issues with your Xbox Live account/Gamertag. Xbox Live support can be reached at http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/contact/ or by phone at 1-800-4MY-XBOX

Security Alert

Posted by Frankie at 9/16/2006 9:42 AM PDT

It has been brought to our attention that someone is sending fake emails form "bungie.com" (we're actually Bungie.net and we never email you about your account details or security.) and we have to assume the sender of the mails, often with a zip file attachment, is up to no good. Simply delete and ignore them and never, ever open a file from a sender you don't know or trust.

The content of the email may look like this:

Dear user frankie,

It has come to our attention that your Bungie User Profile ( x ) records are out of date. For further details see the attached document.

Thank you for using Bungie!

The Bungie Support Team

Again, these mails are not from us, they're from some jackass. Ignore them.
