Keep the game type.

My sole complaint is that the X button is used both for locking down the generators and picking up the weapons dropped by dead elites next to the generators. I'm easily annoyed, and I really don't like picking up half-empty needlers when I'm trying to lock down my generator.

I was complaining about accidentally picking up weapons instead of health packs too... maybe holding Y instead of X could be used for picking up weapons, to separate the button that picks stuff up from the one that does everything else.

Of course there would be a lot of glitches, thats why its called network test 1, but I think that this game type is awesome and should definetly be in the final game and I think that everything in the game is perfect the way it is except for when we try to lock down the generators, it should be by pushing the right joytick so that we don't confuse it with picking up a weapon, same for picking up health pack throughout the whole game.

i definately agree with you guys. the lag is unbearable & the host migration takes too long.

gen defense is my fav game on the reach beta. if your reading this bungie if i had to chose between gen defense or flaming recon i would have to think it over. thats how much i like this game.

hi i personaly feel that when the generators have come out of there 30 sec lock down there should be a longer lenth of time before being able to lock them down agen. also i think that the spawn system is unnessary, i understand slecting where you spawn for invasion so as you can jump into the action but as far as net work test 1 is conserned there is only half the people in a much smaller map. it just seems point less i think the gameplay would work better if it had good old fashion halo spawning. finaly in souden death i think all genoratoes should unlock and a 30 second count down should commence. thank you!

I think you should definitely keep this gametype for Halo: Reach. It kinda mixes things up and requires an extreme amount of planning and strategy on both sides, and I would certainly like to play this more.

As I said before, Generator Defence is one of the best, if not the best game type I have played in all Halo games. Please keep it in the release - it will be the biggest disappointment if its not there!

My only feedback is, it seems the defending team has a harder job than the attacking team. Perhaps this is fine, however sometimes a clearly dominant team will still almost lose their generators because of an untimely death of one of the defenders.

I think if the generators were made slightly stronger it would help distinguish the better teams over the weaker, instead of having so many draw or near draw situations.

I had a problem with NT1. I posted it a little while ago and stopped playing the play list. Got back on yesterday and after a few games the delay, which looked like bad HDTV lag (I would go to strafe to the right and it would take a few milliseconds to move right almost like playing on a bad UK host in other games) went away completely. It seems to me that after a while the network adjusted to me playing, during the afternoon when the population was slowly increasing.

I didn't notice any serious problems regarding lag. Possibly once or twice the game seemed to lock up and everyone would freeze and be unable to move but could still look around. Other than that, I didn't really notice much of a difference.

One thing I was curious about, however, was the Spartans' armor color settings. They all seemed very randomly assigned. It got me thinking: If Spartans are not going to be given a uniform team color, why not just allow them to wear their custom-colored armor they created themselves? I think that would be neat little addition.

its awsome, but the generators outside are incredibly hard to defend and there should be six versus six. but apart from that its all good

btw, i think Gen Defense is a great gametype, hope it stays in, just wish there wasn't the delay in the response time


i found this bug also. i do not think that i have the thing on video. i was near the generator alpha and got a "suicide" when firing the spartan laser at two elites.

Again, kudos. Really fun "battlefield" but simple game type.

I would like to echo other comments on the 30 second lock

Strategy for defense can be simple -good players always keeping one locked.

With 1 minute left, someone locks the last base, it is all but over.

Something needs to be done, at MINIMUM, to increase the excitement of the last 30 seconds. Either say the lock is only good for 10 seconds, cool down really long in last 1.5 minutes, or the lock times are dependent on how many are left etc.

Overall this will be fun. However, if 3 people have mics on a team and it is ANYWHERE near fair in the matchmaking - Spartans will always win as it is now.

I think the gametype has a lot of potential and imo the graphics on this map are quite a bit more detailed and impressive than the other beta maps. The input lag is very annoying, but seems to improve to bearable levels if you have another player as a split-screen guest. Generator C should be moved I think. Elites are able to snipe it from a distance and spawn too close to it, which makes it too hard to defend. The gametype could use some more progression like invasion has. I think having the weapon drops in increments or having a tier system like invasion would make it more fun to play. Like others have said, the lockdown needs to be balanced. Maybe put a limit on the number of times a generator can be locked down or make it take longer for a spartan to lock it down, forcing them to clear the area of elites first and use it more tactically.

Great gametype, bungie! I like the way you made elites completely different from spartans. The only thing I noticed (as did everyone else) was the latency (lag) whenever I would try to jump or turn or scope. I assume this will be fixed since it is a Network Test. Still I enjoyed the couple games I played!

I personally think this gametype is awesome. I have won almost all of the games ive played on it because its not that hard to figure out. I would always go camo elite and sit outside of B and wait for it to pop up then nade spam it. And for defense always have one guy on B with shotty. When A and C are down move all defenders back on B. Anyway, problems I do have are that there are not enough people. It should at least be 4v4 preferably 6v6. It would be so legit if there were more people. I find myself getting bored at times waiting for someone to come and attack a base if im sitting there for 2 minutes. Also...sword is a sucky elite class to go opposite the shotty gaurd class. Sword is worthless on this map. Just sayin.

I like the gametype there is just one problem. The fact that the spartans can just sit there and lock down the generators continuously. Make it to where they can only do it for a certain amount of time and lower the time that they are locked down.

I think the game mode goes way too easy on the spartans. Here's what I suggest:

The cool down time on the generators should be greater.

The generators should't be able to lock when an Elite is a certain distance away from it, like about a few meters.

If the timer runs out while a generator is being attacked, the game should go into Sudden Death.

Bungie, see what you can do.
