Post your general thoughts and impressions regarding the map and game types found in the Halo: Reach Beta.

Rants go elsewhere. Please be constructive. Or else.

KNOWN ISSUES:

-Teammates can score flags already planted by other teammates in Stockpile
-HUD elements in Stockpile are confusing
-Map selection is limited
-Shishka made Slayer Pro and I really don't know how I feel about that

Covie slayer is amazing and deserves it's own playlist in the final game.

I really enjoy SWAT on swordbase, I like SWAT much more in reach than in other halos's.

No I don't have any Beta codes. Sorry :(

-Red Team's Stockpile is too exposed to Blue Team's Focus Rifle

-Red Team gets the Rockets and Grenade Launcher in Stockpile

-Red Team's stockpile is too exposed to Grenade Spam on Swordbase

-Defenders barely get a chance to get to the flag on Swordbase in 1 Flag

-Defenders always camp the flag with Rockets on Powerhouse

-Territories are lost when you capture them in 3 Plot

-Flag return zones are too small

In 3-Plot, Jeff announces "Territory Lost" every time a territory is captured, even if your team captured it.

Add the fact that RED team has an in credible advantage on stockpile on Powerhouse. The flag spawns are extremely one-sided.

Need larger team games? A large proportion of my friends play halo and with the limited gametypes we have i'm nearly always playing against my friends which i find no fun at all.

Big team slayer ftw.

All votes start on the first choice. Those who do not vote have votes defaulted to the top of the list. If less than the majority votes, they are stuck with a game no one actually voted for.

Posted this in the "Weapons and Loadouts" thread, but I suppose this is a more appropriate thread since it wasn't posted before:

Rocket Launcher spawn is too easily accessible on Powerhouse. The RL is very strong on a midrange level like Powerhouse, and it's easier to get to as blue. Move the spawn of the RL to a more difficult location that's equally accessible to both Red and Blue spawns.

Veto for ARs!!!!

Covie Slayer loadouts should only have 1 plasma grenade, to discourage the roll-stick-roll gameplay that having too many sticky grenades seems to encourage.

Headhunter is brilliant. But you probably knew that already. Even though I am not very good at it, I'm having a lot of fun there.

However, it's hard to pick up at a glance how many skulls you are carrying yourself. It's only a minor gripe, though.

Powerhouse feels just a little bit smallish. Don't get me wrong, I like it a good bit but I was hoping for some additional open space. I know that might be coming in future maps.

Covie Slayer is awesome regardless of location or time.

-Swordbase CTF seems sometimes complete stalemate, or lost cause because it's easy to spam nades to the enemy flag right at the start.

-CTF also should have the gravity lift removed. Possibly make the grav lift forge item, so map can be changed according to gametype.

to start things off, i like the beta. plain and simp. the weapons are sick and take some skill to use. the loadouts are dope as well if you know how to use them. but the one thing i really want to say is the maps are horrible. they seem like random ass structures everywhere to get in your way. i believe bungie has a plethora of talent, but fell really short on the maps.

1. It is many times too easy to capture a flag on Sword Base
2. You can also melee through walls!
3. The rocket placement on PowerHouse should be moved to an equal opportunity spawn for 1flag gametypes, and the clip reduced to 2 shots. This will help to eliminate camping next to the flag in the back corner, holding off any and all attempts of the offense for 1:30 or longer. It really does put a mood killer on the gametype
4. Covy Slayer is the BOMB. Maybe take the Plasma Pistol out of the Zealot class so people aren't just "Noob Combo"ing the whole game [Overcharged PP with a headshot/3 shot explosion]

If you read this, you've wasted a few seconds of your life.

I think the Flag on powerhouse should be placed somewhere else. Maybe at the current DMR spawn for the defending team.

My reason for this is that the current flag room is camped to dead by people with the Rocket Launcher and Grenade Launcher.
It's nearly impossible to enter the room because you will get shot by a Rocket or hit by a Grenade.
Even if they don't have the Rocket Launcher and the Grenade Laucher, they can just nadespam you and you can't attack with your full team since the entrences only allow 1 person to enter at a time

The hill location can be difficult to spot in Crazy King.

I will now speak about the two maps I have had access to thus far. These being Powerhouse and Sword Base. To me there are two main parts of a map.... its layout/design and where its weapons are. The weapon layout is harder since these weapons "power" is not set in stone so my suggestions here are for the current insertion, and I hope they will inspire an Idea for the final placement. Oh...and this is compounded due to the verity of game-types. Here I go.

First Powerhouse. I want to get this out of the way...Bungie you stated that there would be no invisible walls but a 10 second count down. I want , with my jet pack... to get to the other side of the broken bridge. I currently cannot due to the invisible wall. This makes me sad :(. There is also On the opposite side...uhh... by the ?waterfall by the cliff I think... there is a place you can stand on and hide. This needs to be smoothed.


Currently Powerhouse is my favorite map... but it is ruled by the heavy weapons. And while this is understandable... I mean... they are heavy weapons, there is little to no way to defend one's self if a team owns most of them. Yes, I am thinking of 1 Flag CTF. Right as they spawn they have acess to the rocket launcher, the focus rifle, and if fast enough even the Pro Pipe. We get a hammer. Range kicks Close range. I can't even get close. If a team is "TEAM" enough... it is impenetrable... no matter how much you armor lock, Active Camouflage, sprint or spam grenades.
The thought occurs that you could switch the rocket launcher with the hammer. Then they would camp with the hammer...BUT... if the Melee glitch is implemented and you have a friend...*smiles* it would be do-able. One could also take out the power sniper and Pro pipe. Yes. I think that would work well.


In stockpile one team has the high ground, the other open ground. Neither of these I like. My suggestion is to move one by the many rocks and the other the area above the Focus rifle spawn. Across from each other, and if memory serves neither can see the other side from the spawn. Though one could see more of the map... so that would need some work. Just a thought. Also the Collection areas for Head hunter seem to be a-bit close together on this map. This needs to be fixed. You should also have it so that If some of the lights are hit, they flicker. I just think that would be cool. I think that's it.

Then there is Sword Base. It has so much potential. I currently am not a fan of this map. Its rather hard to go up. I want more ways up. Jet packs OWN this map.. This should not be. I need more ways up. I need more ways for the map to help me move. I get befuddled on this map. I want up and I look around and I don't know what to do. This happens more then it should. At first I thought it was because I am unaware of the map layout, but it happens even now. The adrenaline gets pumping...the command says up...and there is nothing. So I run up the ramps... but it's too late. I try the Man canon... but I do something wrong and I can get all the up I want. Its discouraging. It's a struggle to get UP to the fun. If it's in the lower ground that's fine... but if it's Up... no luck...unless I have a jet pack. This is particularly true on objective game types. That's my only main gripe about this map. I like everything else.

If vetoing is tied shouldn't it be like none of the above? Yet it automatically pick one of the games. I think if in the first round it's tied, it should to to and set of three maps. If it gets tied again, then it should just pick one of the maps at random.

Headhunter is amazingly fun and shouldn't be changed in any way, other than bug fixes.

Covy Objective would be good.

Is there no assault in the beta? (I'm assuming it's in the full game, I couldn't live without it).
I'd really like to play some assault.
