Article: Bungie.Net Forum Rules

Posted by  Recon Number 54  on 5.02.2007 4:24 PM PDT

Before you bite the bullet and make a post on any of the public forums at Bungie.net, read this and make your life a lot less full of ninjas (which happens to be painful). You should also check out the FAQ while you're here.

=== Bungie.Net Site Rules ===
aka: Common Sense 101

First off, the entire site is governed by the Code of Conduct and the Terms of Use. Be sure to read them and abide by them at all costs.

=== Forum Rules ===
These rules apply to EVERY public Bungie.Net forum.

* Advertisements for your Group, Clan, or Tournament are to be posted in The Classifieds only. Posting an advertisement anywhere else will receive immediate ninja attention.
* Don't spam or "clone" threads.
* No petitions.
* Do not link to inappropriate websites. This includes, but is not limited to, sites containing adult content or information on any type of software piracy. This can get you banned.
* Bumping is illegal. Breaking this law has high consequences. Such as but not limited to: assignation by ninja, hippo licking, and/or complete forum thread annihilation. Or we will most likely just lock your topic. Don't bump!
* Impersonating forum moderators and/or bungie employees is strictly prohibited. Do not break this rule. You will be banned. No warning will be issued.
* No bad jokes.
* No quote pyramids.
* Don't bypass the -blam!- filter (that is the profanity filter for those who have not seen it in action).
* Do not feed the trolls.
* Xbox hacking/modding discussions will not be permitted on any of the Bungie.net forums.
* Don't Flame each other! Use your manners and common sense. If you disagree with someone, do so gracefully.
* Noob, Newbie, N00b, and any other variants on the word newb are hereby banned from use on this forum as is the "gamer slur of the week" (currently the "bad kid" alterations would qualify). Any user who violates this rule will be put to death. These are insults and are a form of personal attack. It is not "playful trash talking", save it for your LAN party where the target of the slur at least has the ability to kick you in the nuts.
* No political or religious discussion of any kind will be tolerated on the forums. These kinds of conversations almost always devolve into insult contests. Use groups like Body Politic or The Black Chapter for such topics if you wish to discuss them.
* Don't use the forums as a means of communicating with a specific person. That is what Private Messages are for.
* Do not link to ‘brain stealing’ text games or any other text games of any sort. If you have such a link put it in your signature, remove them.
* Do not ask for trial cards for Xbox Live.
* Do not "break" the page width or forum formating by repeating or special characters.
* There are plenty of more rules that could be listed, but only a brain damaged monkey would break them. Use common sense and your very best online etiquette.

+ Tip: Use a spell checker on your posts. A great (and free) spell checker is ieSpell.

=== Handling Bad Posts ===
The Bungie.net Community Watch Program

* Do NOT reply to spam.
* You may (and in some cases, should) tell new posters what they may have done wrong, but do so politely. Don't EVER flame.
* For significant violations, inform a moderator directly via PM. If you think it's an emergency matter, contact more than one of us.
* You can also report a very, very bad thread or post to bnetmods@gmail.com. This is the bungie.net moderators shared email address, therefore we all can see it. (your actual mileage may vary. PM's are primary.)

=== Where To Post ===
Posting at its finest

By creating topics and post in the correct forum, we make it easier for other fans to find our discussions.

Plus, putting posts in the right forum keeps the ninjas happy. And happy ninjas don't lock things, or worse.

There are also sticky posts, with rules and other helpful information at the top of the first page of nearly every forum. Checking them out can be helpful and informative.

=== Happy Posting! ===
