It's still a concrete place for uninformed people to learn what the titles mean. You did a good job. =P

OOOOOooooHhhh New Theory!

TOM T 117 Said that maybe their is a max amount of people allowed at each trust level. This greatly explains that. But Achronos did say the max value can change any or everyday.

It is to my belief that the Max Value changes in many ways. Every time a new member is added the Value goes up. After evey "promotion" the value may go up. After a member is deleted, the value goes down.

So say today 847 new members join, and 395 members are deleted due to inactivity. That could mean that the value, in theory would go up. Those guys that are borderline trust, (Mythic would be the most border line because it requires the greatest % of the Max Value), Would likely go down because their percentage compared to the now higher max value is too low for the title they had.

It is also possible that these percentages are:
0%-25%= Regular Member
26%-50%= Heroic Member
51%-75%= Legendary Member
76%-100%= Mythic Member

I also believe that bans and warnings all have a set amount of trust that you lose for each infringment. Since the user levels are all based on a percentage of a variable max value then a graph of trust levels (if you knew all the values) would be a quadratic functiot that could easily show the values such as the number of each user level accuratly in a curve that would easily put the number of mythic members in the 200+ range. But unlike Tom's theory I don't see why they can't trust more than 200 people as mythic. That sounds illogical to me. This theory however could prove that at the same time. It is also possible that when a member is promoted the value changes again. However I doubt that would be the case, as I said it seems illogical.

Now if I'm right, we would know that the formula for trust levels is a quadratic funtion. Now we only need to find what the values are...Any ideas?

EDIT: This is actually similar to military promotions. When rank positions are filled, becoming an NCO becomes harder. Eventually in some MOS primarily older languages in teh 35P, and 74D for example, the promotion points needed are outrageous, the max value is inverse from above theory but similar like 2 sides of a coin. The maximum promtion point you can earn will go down, making your promotion to some ranks even e-5 impossible. You as some people with there trueskill issues would say be in a rank lock.

So what you're saying is that 200 Mythics may have been the approximate figure when Achronos posted (a little while back) in relation to the member count on that day. Okay so that means that the same principles in my theory will still apply however the number of Mythic members could be decided on members on the site so it is in theory not a set amount but a small percentage of total users.

Basically that means users may lose their Mythic status if a lot of accounts are deleted and not replaced. That could be another reason why some members are losing their status in an attempt for the system to balance its self.

Good theory.

Subject: FAQ on Bungie.net Member Titles

Real 7alk - Mr. Green? [-] H3 Wheelmen - Get in a hog if you want to live...

GT: I Recoil624 I

Alright, I have a simple theory yet I found it a bit difficult to find the right words to say it so please bear with me. My theory is similar to a Karma System.

My reasoning came from reading ***Trust is calculated daily, which could be a reason as to why member's titles change.

When you join, you have 0/1000 "Trust Points" or TP(bear with me on this). As a new member, you must earn "trust points" in order to rank up. Say a month of good behavior (no bans or warnings) gives you 50-75 points. A year of perfect behavior alone gets you 600-875 "trust points". A month of report free posts/threads gives you10-25 points. A year of all legitimate posting will get you 100-250 points. Now, recognizing the fact that it takes about a year to a year and a half to become a Heroic members, a year of perfect behavior and legit posting gives you 700-1150 total trust points, just enough to become a Heroic member.

Now,once you reach 1000 "trust points", it increases to say...2250 "trust points" required to become a Legendary member and then 4000 "trust points" to become a Mythic Member.

For a thread being reported, you lose 50-100 points. For being warned, you lose 25-100 points. For being banned, 100-500 points depending on severity. Inactivity for a month will cause you to lose 25 points. Complaints will cause you to lose 25-100 points depending on severity.

Chart

Titles:
Member: 0-999 TP
Heroic Member: 1000-2249 TP
Legendary Member: 2250-3999 TP
Mythic Member: 4000-5000 TP (5000 is max)

Earning TP:
Good Behavior for a Month: +50-75 TP
Legitimate Posting for a Month: +10-25 TP

Losing TP:
*Reported Thread: -50-100 TP
*Received a Warning: -25-100 TP
*Banned: -100-500 TP
Inactivity for 1 Month: -25TP
*Moderators/Administrators Receiving Complaints About You: -25-100 TP

* Indicates a method depending on severity.

American Recoil had the right idea then...you were close too, but AR was more in the ball park.

I guess after a user receives a certain number of points, it then calculates bans, and I think posts help also.
