--First off, I'm sure you're going to offer greater variety when the complete game comes out. So I won't even talk about that. What does worry me is the fact that there's no other areas to customize than what was in Halo 3. I think there should be more armor areas to choose from.
--Second, the credit system seems like a forced addition to keep up with the Call of Duty evolution. Personally, I loved the Halo 3 system where multiplayer armor was unlocked through in game achievements. The credit system offers a little more satisfaction after each and every game, but it doesn't come close to that amazing, "I just unlocked Katana!" feeling. At the very least, you should add armor variants that can only be unlocked through achievements.
--Third, I know that this might be a big fix, but I think that each piece of armor unlocked should have some kind of in game effect. For instance, the airborne pauldrons should offer greater flight speed, or the scout chest piece should offer extended active camouflage. You can spend all the time you want trying to unlock that "next piece," but in the end, it's all cosmetic. I think that will greatly hinder the multipayer longevity.
--Fourth, again, I know this might be a big fix, but weapon attachments would be a welcome addition. In my book, the more customization options you add, the better. Within reason of course. But trying different combinations of weapon attachments is something that has occupied much of my time in different FPS's on Xbox Live. Having the option to customize the weapons we all know and love would add a great element of strategy to the mix that I think is lacking at the moment.
--In conclusion, I think the armory/credit system is pretty good. But it's not the in-depth customization wonderland I was hoping for. With the missing elements I described above, I fear that the armory in it's current state will ultimately leave gamers bored. I mean, choosing colors is great, but after coming back to steel-on-green for the fourth time, one can't help wanting more "effective" options. I still think Halo is an epic gaming masterpiece. But with the recent proven multiplayer customization trees, Halo: Reach fails to surpass nay, meet the bar set by the CoD, Crysis, and Battlefield franchises.
